ENTRY #1

ENTY # 1
The blue part was spun from the fibers I got with my original Traveller purchase in 2001. The color was Winter Sky. The yarn was a 12 wpi singles. In early 2003 Marie Greene designed and knit this sweater for me using the "Winter Sky" Alpine Meadow fibers singles and some handspun pink 12 wpi singles from a blend I made called "Screaming Azalea" (four colors of pink merino plus angelina).

ENTRY # 2
The item I made from my Alpine Meadow Fiber is a felted purse.
I spun the fiber about 10 WPI. It is a 2 ply construction with each ply being randomly spun from the roll of fiber.
The pattern for the knitted and felted purse is my own. It was knit on size 10 1/2 circular needles. After the knitting was finished, I put the purse three times through the washer and dryer cycles. The finished felted size is 11 X 8 1/2 inches.
The handle for the purse is felted I cord that I braided and attached to the sides.

ENTRY # 3 First Place Winner - tie with #4 This poncho was knitted on size 15 needles entirely of Alpine Meadow fiber, spun and two-plied, to about 16 WPI. The fiber is called "Mountain Sky" and is simply beautiful! I had 18 ounces of the fiber and it spun up 700 yards. I used half of it for this poncho. I am NOT a very good knitter and this is the first lace-patterned project I ever tried that did not end up in the wastebasket!
Spinning this fiber was wonderful! The sparkle may not show up in the photos, but it sure showed as I spun and in the finished product.
The pattern is from the March, 2005, issue of Creative Knitting and it is called the "Steppin' Out Poncho".
Thanks for sponsoring this contest. It gave me a goal to keep knitting!!

ENTRY # 4

ENTRY # 4 First Place Winner I have been spinning for about a year.
This shawl was knit from 1 1/2 pounds of Alpine Meadow Fibers Wildflowers # 15. These blends are so beautiful and very lively to spin.
The pattern is called Stora Dimun from the book "Folk Shawls" by Cheryl Oberle.
It is a 2 ply knit up on size 8 circular needles.
The compliments are abundant!

ENTRY # 5
ALPINE MEADOWS ENTRY!! "Summer Lion"
The main part of the face is made from Alpine Meadows "Pancake Rock" fiber. It is hand-felted on a small face form. The mane is needlefelted, then secured with stitching using unspun silk cap stretched thin to yarn. The mane is a mixture a mixture of mohair and wool. The eyes are freshwater pearls dyed gold and the mouth and whiskersare stitched with commercial and handspun yarns. I love the way the Angelina in the Alpine Meadows fiber adds spark to the lion's face, making him extra bright and lively.
